Explosion

Austin was working on a science project yesterday when we all heard a loud BOOM! He was building a wind powered propeller by pumping air into a glass bottle and as the air came out the propeller spun. Well, he got too much air into the bottle and it exploded with a force that was very alarming! Thankfully, the glass didn't get into his eyes or on his face, but the shards of glass went EVERYWHERE! I wish I had a picture of Austin standing in the middle of his room, a few minutes before we needed to leave for school, with blood dripping from his arms and legs, and glass all over. This picture is what is left of the glass bottle with the propeller attached. His pants didn't survive the force of the glass, and the biggest and bloodiest gash was on his leg. He got a total of 15 stitches yesterday, spread out over many smaller cuts.

Dude! Glad you're safe Austin--that had to freak you out sis! Mom told me about it but I'm so glad he's ok. I'm sure Mike was proud. I can just imagine him at work around the water cooler with his aerospace buds bragging, "Well, my son blew up a glass jar! I didn't do that until college!"

Glad everyone survived (even if the shades didn't!).

Sunday, the Brown's were at Tod & Lee Ann's house and Bailey asked her uncle Randy (Dr) to take a look at something hard she found near her hip. All she knew was that it felt weird.

Randy started asking for a flashlight and a minute later he pulled a piece of glass out of her hip! Thank God for pain meds because it hadn't even been hurting! (and pray that there aren't more of those kind of discoveries).

Yikes! What a terrifying experience! I wonder if the experiment worked... it obviously was dangerously interesting!
