Switzerland
Switzerland delighted us from the moment we drove into its amazing mountains. The cows really do wear bells, and we enjoyed that happy bell chorus the entire trip! Yes, these cows are on the road we are driving on!
We chose to go through Klausen pass, the highest pass into Switzerland. Blake and Garrett made snowballs!!
The bed & breakfast we stayed at had Garrett's favorite decka and pillow. We all slept so well here! We left the windows open to enjoy the cow bells : )
We had to leave our car in Stechelburg (near Interlaken) and we took the cable car up some cliffs to Murren, where we stayed.
Murren was charming and beautiful. We loved hiking here! In the evenings we found a pub with a big TV so we could watch the footbol matches of Euro2008! Blake and Mike got in a "little" chess game...
We took another cable car up to the top of the mountain, the Schilthorn. A James Bond movie was filmed here in the late 60's, so they show clips of the movie in a theatre room. We felt like we were on top of the world from this amazingly high vantage point!
We rode a finicular up to this point to begin our hike. We enjoyed a lovely 3-hour hike through lush valleys and hills dotted with cows and sheep, being careful to shut each gate we opened so the cows & sheep can't escape. I've never seen a playground with such an amazing view!
Our "Sound of Music" moment!
Blake and Garrett with the "natives".
After we left Murren, we stopped by this amazing indoor waterfall. Very powerful!
