I realized yet again how much Yosemite means to me and what a special place it has been for our family for at least three generations now. Dad (Phil) shared his memory when as a young man he and his cousins visited Yosemite and they got to watch the fire fall, which was discontinued not long after that visit. Yosemite is also where Carrie and I remember meeting in 1975, though we had actually met in 1970.
Perhaps we could have a bigger family reunion at Yosemite one summer -- those who like the nicer accommodations could get them and those who enjoy camping could do that.
Mealtime in Upper Pines #171 -- did I
mention that we ate very well this week!

Lunch at the Cousin Cafe
Jenna constructed a cozy tarp-covered space
where the cousins took their lunch each day.

Cards With the Cousins in the Tent!

Our Camp Pyro, Austin, who made
a very nice fire for us on our last night

Grandpa breaks in his new
recliner (several of us tested it out
and agreed it's awesome)

Half-Dome at Sunset -- need I say more?

What awesome memories, bro! We still have smiles on our faces from our times together! Bike riding around the Valley floor is still a favorite, and seeing the bear "Goldie" and the baby dear sure made the bikeride special!

Sign me up for that trip, Marty!
I am so bummed to not be in on that trip with you guys!!! Absolutely saddens me--I've got to get my family out there!! I still remember splashing Carrie Ruth on the mighty Merced!! I still remember the smell of that cold river! Thanks for sharing the pix--I can't wait to break in Grandpa's new recliner!!
Ben, everytime we float down the river and get to Stoneman bridge (this year is no exception), Carrie tells the story of how you would jump off the bridge just as she was emerging from under it. You would jump so close that she got drenched! So, the question the kids always ask is: is that Uncle Ben's bridge?? The one he jumped off to get Carrie wet?? What fun memories! I wonder if our kids would jump off Stoneman, it it were allowed...
Yes, us daredevils would jump off the bridge, considering we conquered Half Dome this would be easy...
